Korean aid for development of SL Ocean University

The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has agreed to provide funds amounting to $ 2.5 million for the development of the Ocean University of Sri Lanka.

A discussion in this regard was held at the Ministry of Higher Education, technology and Innovation under the patronage of Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardena.



This project includes a master plan for the upgrading the Ocean University and capacity building program for academics and government officials of Sri Lanka. Since Sri Lanka is striving for development in the maritime sector and to become the maritime hub in the South Asia, this project can be considered as a significant mile stone in the country’s development path.

KOICA has also assisted Sri Lanka in numerous development projects previously as well.

The meeting was attended by MP Namal Rajapaksa, Secretary to the Ministry of Higher Education, technology and Innovation D.M.A.R.B. Dissanayake, Koica representatives and representatives from the Ocean University of Sri Lanka.
