Sri Lanka records over 1.5 million tourist arrivals so far this year
According to a report issued by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), a total of 1,567,007 tourists have arrived in the country between January 1 and September 6, 2026.
Meanwhile, the SLTDA said that 31,885 tourists arrived in Sri Lanka between September 1 and 6.
Indian nationals accounted for the highest number of tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka so far this year, with 395,377 visitors.
In addition, 152,625 tourists arrived from the United Kingdom, while 102,473 arrived from China and 91,763 from Germany.
Indian nationals also accounted for the highest number of tourist arrivals during the first six days of September, with 9,897 visitors.
