Over 160,000 affected across eight districts by El Nino conditions
A total of 161,451 individuals belonging to 49,344 families across eight districts in Sri Lanka have been affected by the impact of El Nino weather conditions.
According to the latest data issued by the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) this morning (12), a total of 36 Divisional Secretariat Divisions (DSDs) across the island have been affected by the El Nino weather phenomenon.
Meanwhile, programmes to continuously provide drinking water to the affected communities are currently underway.
Accordingly, drinking water is being distributed to a total of 141,312 individuals belonging to 43,221 families living across the 36 affected DSDs, the DMC further stated.
