98 expat Sri Lankans have succumbed to COVID-19

The Foreign Affairs Ministry states that 98 expatriate Sri Lankans have died due to COVID-19 related health complications. The ministry said most of the victims were Sri Lankans working in the Middle-East.

According to the ministry, 35 Sri Lankans in Saudi Arabia and 21 in Kuwait have died. At least 10 Sri Lankans have died due to COVID-19 in the United Arab Emirates, six in Qatar and five in Britain, the Foreign Ministry said.

In addition, four Sri Lankans have died in the United States and Canada each, and two each in Bahrain, Germany and Italy. The Foreign Ministry said a Sri Lankan has died in Israel due to COVID-19.
