US $ 180 million loan to provide relief to small and medium scale industries
Cabinet approval has been granted to obtain a loan of US $ 180 million from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, led by China.
It will provide relief to small and medium scale industries affected by the coronavirus epidemic through Bank of Ceylon and People's Bank.
Under this loan facility, Bank of Ceylon and People's Bank will receive US $ 90 million each from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank under sovereign guarantees.
The Government Information Department stated that it has agreed to provide loans under the Covid 19 Emergency Response Facility to the small and medium scale industry as well as the tourism sector in the country
