
Minister Orders Urgent Report After Baby Found Dead on Train
Sri Lankan Authorities have launched a full-scale investigation following the discovery of a deceased infant inside the toilet of a stationary train at the Dematagoda railway yard.
The grim discovery was made by cleaning staff assigned to a train that had arrived from Puttalam to Colombo.
The infant’s body was found inside the toilet of one of the carriages, prompting immediate police intervention.
Minister of Women and Child Affairs, Saroja Savithri Paulraj, confirmed that a special report has been requested regarding the incident.
She stated that the Women and Children’s Bureau of the local police division is actively conducting investigations.
The infant’s body has been placed at the police morgue for further examination, while forensic teams are working to determine the cause of death and the circumstances surrounding the abandonment.
Police have also requested CCTV footage from all railway stations along the Puttalam–Colombo route in an effort to trace the individuals responsible.
