Guidelines to be issued to government institutions on code of conduct
The Human Rights Commission says that guidelines will be issued on how government institutions should conduct operations.
Its commissioner Attorney Nimal Punchihewa says that more attention will be paid to institutions such as police, prisons and probation.
It will also focus on issues such as how to act after a person has been arrested and the care and treatment of a mentally ill person when admitted.
He added that these guidelines are expected to be issued on the 11th of December following the International Human Rights Day on the 10th of December.
