Uddika Premaratne resigns from parliament..!
In a significant development, Uddika Premaratne, Member of Parliament representing the Anuradhapura district, has tendered his resignation.
The announcement came through a formal letter addressed to the Speaker of the Parliament.
Premaratne, who entered Parliament following the 2020 parliamentary general election, said that had high hopes of effecting positive change in the nation, adding that as a young leader, he aspired to play an active role in shaping the country’s trajectory.
However, in his resignation letter, Premaratne candidly expressed his disappointment, noting that the chain of events that unfolded over time did not afford him the opportunity to contribute significantly to the nation’s welfare.
Premaratne in the letter had stated that he has decided to step back temporarily.
