9,000 officers deployed for police operations during festive season
Police Media Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana stated that the police traffic operations carried out islandwide in view of the festive season will continue until the 05 January.
The operation was launched on 20 December with the participation of 9,000 police officers.
Accordingly, 113 drunk drivers were arrested thus far and 60 accidents were reported during the past day, the Police Spokesperson said.
He said that fatal road accidents had taken place in Katunayake, Kalutara, Moratuwa and Negombo yesterday (21).
