Covid 19 as at 24 Nov: Four deaths- 459 cases reported
Four more deaths were reported yesterday due to COVID-19 increasing the death total to 94.
Among the victims was a 74 year old male, resident of Ginigathhena area. He was transferred from the Prison Hospital to the Intensive Care Unit of the Ragama Teaching Hospital. The cause of death has been attributed to multi-organ failure caused by a diarrheal condition with COVID-19 infection.
A 54 year old male resident of Siyambalape South died at the Colombo National Hospital. The cause of death was exacerbation of chronic kidney disease with COVID-19 infection.
A 73 year old female from Colombo 15 died at the Homagama Base Hospital. She was identified as an infected person and was transferred from the Colombo National Hospital to the Homagama Base Hospital. The cause of death was a stroke and pneumonia associated with COVID-19
A 42 year old male from Atulugama area in Bandaragama died in hospital. He was transferred from Panadura Base Hospital to IDH and died at that hospital. The cause of death was exacerbation of chronic liver disease and inflammation in brain with COVID-19 infection.
According to Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry, 459 new COVID-19 cases were reported yesterday.
Among the cases identified on Tuesday 458 were close contacts of the infected cluster from Peliyagoda COVID-19 group and one person who arrived from Qatar and currently in quarantine
According to the Health Promotion Bureau report, a total of 20,967 COVID-19 cases have been reported and 5,911 patients are being treated at hospitals.
Another 601 individuals are currently under investigations in hospitals.
