
Dengue Cases Spike in Colombo and Gampaha Districts; NDCU Launches Special Control Program
A resurgence of dengue cases has been reported in the Colombo and Gampaha districts, prompting concerns among health authorities.
The majority of cases were reported from densely populated areas including Colombo, Nugegoda, Maharagama, Gothatuwa, Gampaha, Attanagalla, Wattala, Biyagama, Kelaniya, and Negombo, Nalin Ariyaratne Director of the National Dengue Control Unit said.
To combat the rising dengue cases, the NDCU the implementation of a special Dengue control program in the Trincomalee and Batticaloa districts, effective tomorrow.
Health officials urge residents in affected areas to take precautionary measures, including eliminating potential mosquito breeding sites around their homes and using mosquito repellents when venturing outdoors.
