Generator 3 of the Norocholai Power Plant to be added to the national grid.
The Ceylon Electricity Board says that Generator 3 of the Norocholai Power Plant which was shut down for maintenance, will be added to the national grid on Wednesday (29).
CEB Spokesperson Engineer Noel Priyantha said that 300 MW will be added to the national grid.
Meanwhile, Generator 2 of the Norocholai Power Plant, which was out of operation due to a technical difficulty, will also be added to the national grid by December 16.
65% of electricity is generated by hydropower daily, due to the rainy condition.
The Electricity Board said that majority of hydropower was generated during the last few days, so far this year.
The Mahaweli Authority of Sri Lanka said that the capacity of the reservoirs under its purview has increased to 88% of the total capacity.
It added that maximum water is being release for hydropower generation.
