Uni academic activities at a standstill due to strike
Academic activities in all universities have come to a standstill due to the ongoing strike launched by non-academic staff.
University vice-chancellors informed News1st that all examinations were postponed.
The university non-academic staff launched an indefinite strike from noon on Thursday (02) against the 15 percent salary cuts and the failure to increase their monthly allowances.
Co-Chairman of the Joint Committee of University Trade Unions Dhammika S. Priyantha said the trade union action will be further intensified if a solution is not provided to their demands by the 8th of May, as promised.
