Online programme to provide new schools to students who passed Grade 5 scholarship exam

Education Ministry has taken steps for the first time to launch a new online program to provide new schools to students who will be admitted to Grade 6 in the year 2021 based on the results of this year's scholarship examination.

The official inauguration of the program was held at the Ministry of Education this morning (10) under the patronage of the Education Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris.

Relevant applications were already called from parents to apply for new schools for students who have passed the district cut-off marks in the scholarship examination this year and the principals will add the names of the schools to which the students have applied and other information mentioned in the relevant applications to the database.

The Ministry of Education announces that all principals will be able to enter this data in Sinhala or Tamil medium from today (10) to December 24.

Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19 in the country, this year's scholarship examination was successfully held and out of 326,264 students who sat for the examination, 47,193 students qualified to apply for a new school exceeding the cut-off marks.
