Dry spell continues to hamper supply of water to 13 districts.
According to the National Water Supply and Drainage Board, measures have been taken to distribute water to many areas of the island under a controlled system due to the current dry weather.
Its Deputy General Manager Engineer Anoja Kaluarachchi said that water will be supplied under low pressure to areas at a higher elevation.
She also requested the public to limit water consumption for non-domestic activities.
With the dry weather that has affected the island, over 166,000 people in 13 districts are facing a drinking water crisis.
The Disaster Management Center stated that this group has been suffering from the drinking water problem since the first of last month.
All the districts of the North and East, Hambantota, Badulla, Nuwara Eliya and Monaragala are included in those districts.
