Covid update: More than 40% of the Covid cases reported from Colombo

Yesterday, 403 infected persons were reported in the country and the highest number of infected persons, which was 81, has been reported from the Colombo district.

The highest number of infections outside the Western Province was reported from the Kandy District yesterday, with 56 infected persons.

30 from Gampaha, 27 from Kalutara and 20 from Trincomalee district were also reported yesterday.

According to the daily report released yesterday by the National Action Center another 85 people were reported unaccounted.

So far more than 40% of the case 17,967 have been reported from Colombo.

The numbers reported are as follows;

Colombo - 17,967
Gampaha - 9,322
Kalutara - 3,030
Kandy - 1,403

Meanwhile, the Kandy Municipal Council's Secretariat was temporarily closed with a minor employee infected. The son of the employee has been diagnosed with a coronavirus infection while traveling abroad and a rapid antigen test has been carried out on the municipal employee.

Meanwhile, four of the five detainees who escaped from the Polonnaruwa-Gallella Corona Medical Center on the morning of the 31st have not yet been arrested.
