Punchihewa replaces Deshapriya as New EC chairman as new chairpersons appointed for Ind Commissions
The Parliamentary Council today ratified the nominees for five Independent Commissions recommended by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
The new Chairpersons appointed to the five Independent Commissions are as follows.
• National Election Commission – Nimal Punchihewa
• Public Services Commission – Retd. Supreme Court judge Jagath Balapatabendi
• National Police Commission – former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chandra Fernando
• Bribery Commission – Retd. Supreme Court judge Eva Wanasundera
• Finance Commission – Sumith Abeysinghe
