Over 2,100 Dengue Cases Reported in 2026; 41 MOH Divisions at High-Risk

2,170 dengue cases have been reported, within the first 9 days of 2026.

Community Medical Specialist Dr. Prashila Samaraweera of the National Dengue Control Unit says that a "dengue high-risk situation" exists across 41 MOH divisions.

She added that school principals and MOH offices have been instructed to conduct dengue control programs prior to the upcoming Advanced Level (A/L) examinations and the reopening of schools.
