Train services between Rambukkana-Peradeniya, Gampola suspended on Oct. 24 and 25
Train services between Rambukkana-Peradeniya and Gampola will be temporarily suspended on October 24 and 25, to carry out restoration work following an earth slip near the Kadugannawa Railway Station, the Railway Department has announced.
The earth slip, triggered by adverse weather conditions, has caused soil and debris to collapse onto the railway tracks, creating a hazardous situation.
Sri Lanka Railways has scheduled emergency restoration work for Saturday (October 24) and Sunday (October 25) to remove the soil and debris and restore the affected railway line.
All train services operating along the affected sections will be suspended during the two-day period to facilitate the restoration work.
Passengers who have purchased tickets and reserved seats for travel on the affected dates will be eligible for a full refund at any railway station, according to the department.
The Department of Railways has expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the cancellations.
