An elephant that fell into a ZD canal, rescued
A seven-hour operation launched today (03) afternoon to rescue a wild elephant that had fallen into a ZD canal which carries water from Carson Lake in Welikanda to Omadiamadu.
The officials of the Polonnaruwa Wildlife Office launched an operation to rescue the animal who had fallen into the ZD canal in Nagastenna, Welikanda, today morning (03).
According to the Hiru correspondent, the elephant was aged 35 years, and it was rescued by the Wildlife officials and the locals of the area using a rope ladder.
