University Operations Resume After 75-Day Strike
University operations will return to normal today following a 75-day strike by non-academic staff.
Co-Chairman of the University Trade Union Committee Dhammika S. Piyantha said that the strike was suspended after an agreement was reached with the University Grants Commission.
The strike was launched based on several demands including salary discrepancies, which continued for 75 days.
Activities at government universities and many higher education institutions were severely disrupted owing to the strike.
