Auditor General Calls for Affordable Medicines, Action on Substandard Drugs
The Auditor General's Department has recommended to health authorities to provide medicines at reasonable prices to the people.
The department made this recommendation through an audit report.
The report also recommended that issues in the system of setting and regulating prices of drugs be rectified.
Meanwhile, the Auditor General also recommended that legal action be taken against those responsible for the manufacturing of substandard drugs including human immunoglobulin.
He also directed the authorities to develop and implement mechanisms to maintain the quality of medicines continuously.
