Prevailing rains to enhance within next few days
The prevailing rainy conditions in the southwestern part of the island is expected to enhance to some extent in the next few days from today (08th).
Showers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Southern provinces and in Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.
Fairly heavy showers above 50 mm are likely at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Nuwara Eliya, Galle, and Matara districts.
Several spells of showers will occur in North-western, Northern and North-central provinces.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Uva province and in Ampara and Batticaloa districts in the evening or night.
Strong winds of about (40-50) kmph can be expected at times over Northern, North-central, and North-western provinces and in Trincomalee and Hambantota districts.
The general public is requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
