Dengue: 05 day mosquito control program from tomorrow to prevent Dengue surge
The National Dengue Control Unit announced, in response to a surge in dengue cases due to the inter-monsoon season, A five-day island-wide mosquito control program will be launched tomorrow.
Dengue cases have risen "abnormally" across several provinces, with Western, Southern, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Northern, and Eastern provinces reporting the highest numbers, Director of the NDCU, Dr. Nalin Ariyaratne said.
A special entomological survey will be conducted tomorrow and the day after to assess the mosquito population and target control efforts effectively, Dr. Ariyaratne said
This year, Sri Lanka has seen a worrying 82,036 dengue cases and 49 deaths, highlighting the urgency of the control program.
