Two persons have been injured in a shooting in the Weligama town on Friday (15)  night. 

Police say that two unidentified motorcycle gunmen had carried out the shooting. 

The two who were injured in the shooting have been admitted to the Matara hospital for treatment. 

Police say that those injured are 42 year-old and 52-year-old residents of Denipitiya and Welipitiya respectively. 

One of them is said to be a businessman, while the other is said to be his assistant. 

Investigations are underway to arrest the two motorcycle gunmen.

Meanwhile police spokesperson Nihal Thalduwa says that continuous investigations are underway with regard to the shootings which took place in Ragama, Dompe and Matara, the day before yesterday. 

The Spokesperson says that while 3 were injured in the shooting in Ragama, one is in critical state. 

He adds that it is houses that came under attack in the Dompe and Matara shootings.
