Samples sent overseas to investigate death at NHSL.
Deputy Director General of Health Services G Wijesuriya said the bio samples of the person who died after being administered an antibiotic at the National Hospital of Sri Lanka have been sent to India for further investigation.
He said samples of the antibiotic, Co-amoxiclav, which was given to the patient, was also sent to Australia for examination.
He added that the results of these investigations will be pivotal in determining the cause of death of the patient.
The patient was a 50-year-old from Warakapola, who had sought treatment for a laceration.
The use of Co-amoxiclav has been temporarily suspended as a precautionary measure.
