Suspect wanted for murder arrested after 12 years.
A suspect wanted over the murder of a youth in Payagala in 2011 has been arrested 12 years after the incident, it was reported.
According to Lankadeepa, the Dodangoda Police stated that the suspect is a 59-year-old resident of Maragaswila in Payagala.
He is accused of hacking to death a 28-year-old man in the Maragaswila area in Payagala in January 2011.
The Police stated that the suspect who had fled the area following the murder had been living in hiding in various areas over the last 12 years.
Continuous investigations and a tip-off led to the arrest of the suspect yesterday, with Police officials taking him into custody while he was working at a hotel in the Kohilawatte area in Wellampitiya.
