2022 Budget prepared with a team of over 100 from different sectors
The Government Information Department states that for the first time in the history of the country's budget, the largest number of individuals and institutions have participated in the preparation of the budget for the year 2022.
They said in a statement that under the guidance of Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa and the direct involvement of the Ministry, a large number of organizations and individuals had submitted proposals and ideas in preparing the budget.
According to the Information Department, the Minister was of the view that a budget should be prepared to build a strong economy that can successfully overcome the challenges faced in the face of the Covid 19 epidemic by the economy.
A team of about 102 including Ministers, Members of Parliament, Secretaries to Ministries, Leaders of various political parties, District Political Authorities, Various Trade Unions, Trade Organizations, Importers, Youth Organizations and sectors such as Tea, Coconut, Textiles, Vegetables and Fruits, Food, Fisheries, Information Technology, livestock, gems, jewelery and fisheries have contributed to the preparation of the 2022 budget.
This year's budget is due to be presented to Parliament by the Minister of Finance on the 12th.
