Bus transporting overseas returnees to quarantine centre crashes injuring 17
A bus carrying Sri Lankan returnees from overseas crashed into a water supply pipeline in the Palai area in Jaffna this morning.
The bus was reported to be transporting a group of Sri Lankans who had been repatriated from Oman to the Vidathalpalai quarantine center in Jaffna.
It is suspected that the accident may have occurred due to the driver falling asleep on the wheel, making him lose control of the luxury bus.
Seventeen passengers, who were inside the bus, sustained injuries in the accident and have been admitted to hospital.
