Salaries of quarantined persons have to be paid - Commissioner General of Labour
With the spread of coronavirus, the Department of Labour has advised to establish health committees in private institutions for the safety of employees.
Commissioner General of Labour Prabhath Chandrakeerthi stated that labour officials will be investigating the matter.
He also said that salaries of the quarantined persons have to be paid as per an earlier decision taken by the task force comprising the Minister of Labour, the employers and the trade unions.
The Commissioner General of Labour said that between between 12,000 and 14,000 private sector workers have been affected.
