Door of a school van opens suddenly : 5 year old falls to death
A 5-year-old nursery school student has died after falling from his school van. This unfortunate incident had occurred today (25th March) afternoon at the Hunuketiya Junction area on Wellawaya – Ella road, when the door of the van had got opened suddenly while the van was on the move.
The van was transporting students of a nursery school back home at the time of the accident.
The deceased child has been identified as Anuhas aged 5, who was residing in Paragaha Arawa, Uva Karandagolla, Ella.
A spokesman from Wellawaya Hospital stated that the child had already succumbed to his serious injuries at the time he was admitted to hospital.
The driver of the van has been arrested by Wellawaya Police in connection of the accident.
