Gazette issued regarding wage increase for Estate workers
The Ministry of Labour has issued a Gazette Notification undersigned by Ministry Secretary M.P.D.U.K. Mapa Pathirana, noting that the decision taken by the Wages Board for the Tea Growing and Manufacturing Trade is approved by Labour Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva.
Accordingly, the daily minimum wage of Estate workers was increased to Rs. 1,000. It includes the Minimum daily wage Labour of Rs. 900 and Budgetary Relief Allowance of Rs. 100
The Gazette Notification will be implemented as per provisions of Wages Boards Ordinance (Chapter 136) is to be varied as
depicted in the following schedule as per provision Section 29(3) of the said ordinance.
The Notification will be in effect from 05 March 2021.
