08 COVID FATALITIES ON MONDAY (11), COUNTRY TOLL RISES TO 240

08 COVID-19 deaths were confirmed on Monday (11), raising the total number of fatalities in Sri Lanka to 240, reported the Government Information Department.

01. A 52-year-old male prisoner at the Welikada Prison. He had passed away upon admission to the Welikada Prison Hospital on the 06th of January 2021.

The cause of death was ruled as COVID pneumonia.

02. A 61-year-old male from Rajagiriya. He had passed away upon admission to a private hospital in Colombo on the 07th of January 2021.

The cause of death was ruled as COVID pneumonia and acute diabetes.

03. A 45-year-old male from Mattakkuliya. He had passed away at the National Hospital in Colombo on the 08th of January 2021.

The cause of death was ruled as COVID pneumonia.

04. A 36-year-old female from Colombo – 12. She had passed away upon admission to the National Hospital in Colombo on the 08th of January 2021.

The cause of death was ruled as COVID pneumonia and epilepsy.

05. A 51-year-old male from Colombo – 14. He was identified as a COVID-19 infected person at the National Hospital in Colombo and was moved to the Homagama Base Hospital where he passed away on the 10th of January 2021.

The cause of death was ruled as COVID pneumonia.

06. A 70-year-old female from Bandaragama. She was identified as a COVID-19 infected person at the Kalutara General Hospital and was moved to the Homagama Base Hospital where she passed away on the 10th of January 2021.

The cause of death was ruled as COVID pneumonia and acute kidney disease.

07. A 67-year-old male from Kalutara South. He was identified as a COVID-19 infected person at the Kalutara General Hospital and was moved to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases where he passed away on the 10th of January 2021.

The cause of death was ruled as COVID pneumonia and blood poisoning.

08. A 57-year-old male from Kattankudy. He was identified as a COVID-19 infected person at the Batticaloa Teaching Hospital and was moved to the Welikanda Base Hospital where he passed away on the 11th of January 2021.

The cause of death was ruled as COVID pneumonia and blood poisoning.
