Angoda Lokka conceals self as Pradeep Singh, Indian Police reveals more details on death
Indian officials have confirmed the death of notorious underworld kingpin Maduma Lasantha Chandana Perera alias ‘Angoda Lokka’.
Police Spokesman Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Ajith Rohana said Angoda Lokka had been hiding in India under the false identification of Pradeep Singh.
He was reported to have died in August 2020 in Coimbatore in India, following which India had commenced investigations to ascertain his true identity. Indian officials had obtained the assistance of the INTERPOL Unit in Sri Lanka in this regard.
DIG Ajith Rohana said Sri Lanka has been requested for the DNA sample of a close relative of Angoda Lokka for the investigation, while the Criminal Investigations Department is working on it.
The postmortem examination into Angoda Lokka’s death has been completed, while further investigations are underway by Indian authorities.
Angoda Lokka fled to India after opening fire at a prison bus transporting prisoners from Kalutara.
The INTERPOL had thereafter issued a red notice to apprehend the notorious drug kingpin of Sri Lanka over various drug and murder cases. (NewsWire)
