Delhi experiences lowest temperature on New Year's Eve after 15 years
The Indian capital New Delhi has experienced extreme cold weather on New Year's Eve, with temperatures dropping to 1.1 degrees Celsius.
It is the lowest temperature recorded on New Year's dawn in New Delhi in 15 years.
At New Year's Eve last year, the average temperature in Delhi was 2.4 degrees Celsius. Delhi recorded the lowest ever temperature of 0.2 degrees Celsius on 8th January 2006.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department, Delhi was shrouded in thick fog and its visibility was limited to 50 meters due to the extremely cold weather.
