Two arrested with 68kg of heroin
Police Media Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana stated that two suspects were arrested along with 68 kilograms of heroin in the Deiyandara, Matara District.
He added that the suspects were arrested during a search operation conducted on a vehicle by the officers of the Matra Divisional Crime Bureau. The said vehicle was also taken into police custody.
Among the arrested were a 38-year-old female who is a resident of Kandy and a 32-year-old male who is a resident of Katana, Negombo.
Further investigations into the arrests are being carried out by the Matra Divisional Crime Bureau.
Police Media Spokesperson further noted that it was identified that the Southern part of Sri Lankan has become a hub for heroin and narcotics distribution. Therefore, the police will be taking stern action and conducting constant operations in this regard
