Second-highest COVID cases reported from Kalutara District yesterday

The Ministry of Health stated that among the 592 COVID patients that were identified yesterday (24), the highest number, which is 245 was identified from the Colombo District.

It included two inmates of the Welikada Prison as well.

The second-highest number of patients, 140, was reported from the Kalutara District, while 66 COVID patients were reported from the Gampaha District.

From Prisons, 15 inmates at the Negombo Prison and one inmate at the Boossa Prison were diagnosed with the virus.

Within Colombo District 16,784 COVID patients were identified since 04 October and 8,550 patients were reported from the Gampaha District. From the Kalutara District 3,084, COVID patients were identified.

The total number of COVID patients in Sri Lanka stands at 39,231. The total number of recoveries stands at 30,568, while 8,478 patients are still receiving treatment at the hospitals.

The death toll in the country also increased to 185 yesterday (25) with the report of another death.

The deceased was a 60-year-old male from Agalawatta who died at the admission to the Pimbura Base Hospital on 20 December. The cause of death was identified to be blood poisoning with COVID-19 infection.
