New committee to probe low-flying plane complaints.
Sri Lanka has appointed a committee of experts to probe an incident where several houses in Katana, Negombo were allegedly damaged by a low-flying aircraft.
Sri Lanka's Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation Nimal Siripala De Silva said that earlier, the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka had appointed a committee to probe the incident.
However, certain parties were not pleased with the report submitted by the Civil Aviation Authority committee, said the Minister.
Therefore, Minister De Silva had decided to appoint a committee that will include personnel from the Department of Meteorology, Civil Aviation Authority, and the Disaster Management Center to investigate the incident.
On the 18th of July, the Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority said the complaints were received, citing that several houses in Katana were damaged due to a low-lying aircraft.
