Local Covid-19 caseload tops 36,000
With five new deaths reported, the total Covid-19 fatalities in Sri Lanka have risen to 165, according to the Government Information Department.
Four of them are men – a 72-year-old from Agalawatte, another aged 76 years from Colombo 15, a 50-year-old from Maharagama and a man from Wathupitiwala aged 86 years.
Also a woman, aged 86 years and from Maggona, has died of the virus.
The caseload has increased to 36,049 with the finding of 662 new cases.
The clusters at the Brandix factory at Minuwangoda, the fish market at Peliyagoda and at prisons account for 32,380 of them.
A total of 8,828 patients remain hospitalized, while 27,061 have recovered so far.
