Child who played with bell rope, strangled (Photos)
A school student who was playing by hanging from a bell rope has died today (11) after being strangled with that rope.
The Norwood police said the victim was an eight-year-old boy.
The student was hanging from the bell rope of the temple near his house when the superintendent of the estate saw the rope hanging around his neck and took steps to rescue the student and take him to hospital.
However, our correspondent stated that the student had died while being admitted to the hospital.
The body of the deceased schoolboy was placed at the Maskeliya Regional Hospital morgue.
The Norwood police said the body will be sent for a postmortem after a Hatton District Court Magistrate's site inspection.
