Investigations launched into Covid patient for spitting on health officer in Atalugama
Police have commenced investigations into an incident where a Covid patient had spat on the face of a Public Health Inspector (PHI) in Atalugama, Bandaragama.
Police Spokesman Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Ajith Rohana said the PHI officer had attempted to transfer the patient to a Covid treatment facility when the incident had occurred.
The patient had refused to be admitted to hospital, obstructing the duties of the PHI officer, and had later spat on the latter’s face.
DIG Ajith Rohana said that legal action will be initiated against the patient following the completion of Police investigations into the incident.
Atalugama in Bandaragama has been in isolation since November due to a rise in coronavirus patients.
