Sri Lanka to receive $700m in IMF 5th and 6th tranches by end-May: President
Sri Lanka expects to receive around $700 million from the fifth and sixth tranches of its programme with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) by the end of May, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake told Parliament.
Addressing Parliament, the President said it is expected that the agreement will be signed following executive board approval of the fifth review by Thursday (9).
He said discussions with IMF officials have been productive, adding that efforts are underway to finalise the agreement locally rather than through the usual process of concluding it overseas.
The President noted that if the agreement is reached, Sri Lanka will be able to receive the fifth and sixth tranches simultaneously, accelerating inflows under the IMF-supported programme.
