Principals and teachers: Salaries cost over Rs 134 b
Education Minister Professor G.L. Peiris said on Saturday (28) that Rs.134,370 million is spent annually on the salaries and allowances of principals and teachers.
Speaking to MP Shantha Bandara in Parliament, Minister Peiris said Rs. 8,199 million was spent on salaries and Rs.138 million on principals’ allowances.
“Rs. 123,637 million is being spent on salaries of teachers and Rs. 2,395 million for their allowances,” he said.
