Schools in all areas, except the ones in the Western province and isolated areas to be opened
All arrangements have been made to open schools tomorrow in all areas except schools in the Western province and isolated areas, the Ministry of Education said.
The relevant monitoring activities are being carried out today as well, secretary to the Ministry Professor Kapila Perera said.
Meanwhile, Additional school buses have been deployed for students, State Minister of Bus Transport Services Dilum Amunugama stated.
If required Zonal Directors have taken steps to provide additional bus services, he further added.
Meanwhile, special dengue eradication programs will be conducted in areas near schools today, the Director of the National Dengue Control Unit Dr. Aruna Jayasekara stated.
Already, 247 dengue cases have been confirmed so far this year.
146 cases have been reported from the Batticaloa district alone; that’s the highest number.
Meanwhile, it has been decided to commence school sports on the 20th of this month across all areas except the western province and isolated areas, State Minister of Rural and School Sports Infrastructure Thenuka Vidanagamage said.
The sporting activities will be carried out concurrently together with the commencement of schools tomorrow, he further explained.
