Decision on when to conduct O/L exams in 10 days: Minister

The decision on when to conduct the GCE Ordinary Level examination will be taken by the government within the next ten days, stated Minister of Education G. L. Pieris.

“Unless the Ordinary Level classes in the Western Province can be opened by the first week of December, we might have to postpone the exam once again, as students of the Western Province should complete their study criteria as well,” he stated.

The O Level exam is generally due in December every year, but has been already postponed this time to 18-27 January, 2021 due to the prevailing COVID-19 concerns.

The Government has reopened grades 6-13 in schools in provinces other than Western Province, Kandy, Kilinochchi and Kalmunai and other isolated areas from this week.
