Facebook, Instagram back after services outages
Facebook on Friday experienced an outage that interrupted its services, including its social network, Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp.
Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook Messenger — all Facebook services were briefly down around the world. Many users had been posting on Twitter about not being able to log into any of the Facebook services. According to website outage tracker Downdetector, the problems started to be noticed by users at around 10.30pm IST on Friday, March 19 — as of 11.30pm IST they started to be functional again.
“Earlier today, a technical issue caused people to have trouble accessing some Facebook services,” a Facebook spokeswoman said in a statement. “We resolved this issue for everyone, and we apologize for any inconvenience.”
The issues began around 1:30 p.m. Eastern and were resolved around 2:30 p.m. Eastern.
Facebook Gaming posted a statement to its followers on Twitter, alerting users that gaming streams were also affected in the outage
