T20 World Cup : PAK thrash SCO by 72 runs to top group
Pakistan thrashed Scotland by 72 runs in their last game of the Super 12 stage of the ongoing T20 World Cup in Sharjah on Sunday to top the Group 2 points table.
After posting a mammoth total of 189/4 from their 20 overs, Pakistan restricted Scotland to 117/6 in 20 overs to clinch a comprehensive victory.
Pakistan's win meant they will next face Australia in the semi-finals while England will take on New Zealand in the other last-four match-up.
Earlier in the day, Shoaib Malik hit a blistering knock of 54 not out off 18 balls as Pakistan posted a commanding total of 189/4. Pakistan got off to a steady start after winning the toss and opting to bat first.
They lost Mohammad Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Hafeez but continued to add runs on the board.
Skipper Babar Azam hit a half-century, his fourth of the ongoing T20 World Cup, before departing for the score of 66 to give his side the platform for a big total.
