Covid update: More than 7,000 reported cases in Colombo

The Colombo remains the worst affected district in the country with coronavirus.

The Epidemiology Unit stated that 7,226 cases of coronavirus have been reported from the Colombo District to date.

More than 30 cases have been reported in isolated areas in Borella, Wellampitiya and Slave Island in the last two days.

The Epidemiology Unit further stated that 5,391 cases of coronavirus have been reported from the Gampaha District while 776 cases have been reported from the Kalutara District.

Yesterday, 337 persons infected with coronavirus was reported in the country. The total number of infected people has now increased to 20,508.

335 of the 337 reported yesterday were from the Peliyagoda cluster.

Accordingly, the Government Information Department stated that the number of infected people from the Minuwangoda Brandix and Peliyagoda Covid cluster have increased to 16,978.

At present 5,921 patients are being treated at the hospital while 14,497 have recovered.
