Rat fever raises its head again
With the Covid-19 pandemic taking precedence, rat fever has become a somewhat ignored health issue.
Unsafe agricultural practices are causing rat fever, or leptospirosis, to raise its head once again.
Cases increase during the rainy season or flooding, with the north central, northwestern and Sabaragamuwa provinces accounting for most instances
More than 100 persons have succumbed to rat fever so far this year.
Health authorities stress the need to pay more attention to preventing rat fever.
