Sri Lanka’s Covid-19 cases tally hits 16,405
Fresh COVID-19 positive cases were identified today (14), as the total number of cases reported in Sri Lanka reached 16,405.
The Department of Government Information said 214 more persons were tested positive for the virus.
All the new cases are close contacts of the Minuwangoda and Peliyagoda clusters, reports confirmed.
With the new development, novel coronavirus infections from the dual cluster hit 12,909.
According to Health Ministry’s data, 11,324 of the confirmed patients have made complete recoveries from the virus.
The Epidemiology Unit says 5,028 active cases are still receiving medical treatment at selected hospitals across the island.
The death toll meanwhile went up to 53 yesterday, as five more patients fell victim to the virus.
